Zimbabwe Squad for T20 World Cup 2012
T20 World Cup 2012 Zimbabwe Team is placed here. Zimbabwe: good players but half-baked contention.
While South Africa boasts of a strong contention at T20 World Cup 2012 in Sri Lanka, neighbors Zimbabwe are left to pick cricketing morsels. Cricket is a technical art and mere talent isn’t sufficient to land the spoils.
What they lack primarily is the confidence in their abilities. Even with some decent batsmen such as Chigumbura, Masakadza, Taylor and Sibanda, they often get into a shell and remain contended with a below-par score. They lack that ray of inspiration that Andy Flower would generate in his heydays. Relegation from test status was a killer blow to their self confidence and they haven’t still recovered from that pain. There will be a buzz however to watch the small frame of wicketkeeper Tatenda Taibu move as lithely as a cat.
It is true though that they will relish the conditions at least while bowling. In Prosper Utseya and Raymond Price, they do have spinners who mean business. Mpofu is their only pace hope and he isn’t exactly Lee. Where Zimbabwe stands out is courtesy brilliance on the field and their matches promise a string of sensational catches and stops.
They will have to be extremely lucky to enter the Super 8 stage, as their preparation for the big contest seems half-baked at best.
